I found that specimen this afternoon. When I splited it up I saw the strange picture inside (next photo). Could it be the Omphalophloios bark with something inside?

Roman.... Very strange, it must represent the pith... I 'think' it could it be crushed Stigmaria, the patternation on the pith looks quite typical of this...

Thank you Steve. There is no evidence of rootlet scars, nothing similar to all stigmaria I've ever seen before except the number and order of the "scars". Have you any specimen of the stigmaria pith?

Roman... I think because the Stigmaria root is virtually crushed flat it has significantly reduced the visible external detail and also it is possibly decorticated somewhat 'maybe lol' ... I have only seen the external surface of the Stigmaria on a couple of fossils and this is one a friend found... You can clearly see the same patternation..
I cant seem to find the load image thing... its gone missing lol

Could it be fish scales rather than a plant fossil?
