Beautiful bryozoans, and quite diverse ones at that. The possible spicule might indeed be a large acanthohexactine, but I also wouldn't rule out a bryozoan fragment; I've recently seen one of Tarquin's Carboniferous fenestellids that have stellate structures potentially like this, and it's hard to tell what the 3D form is like.

Lots of fun view chert... recently I have been experimenting with LED lights... I find them superior in out put when compared to CFL lights and eat less power and the best thing is that they emit very little UV light energy that tends to fog up pictures ..... so the pictures appear sharper.... The above pictures were imaged with 2Watts LED 6000K lights and timed exposures.... PL
