Woohoo - well done indeed, and thanks for being persistent... As a reward, I can say I'm 99% sure this is indeed real. There are too many details (especially of the imperfections) that couldn't or wouldn't be faked. I've seem some very good fakes, but not of a small piece of trilobite with lots of chips and broken bits. The form of the anennae actually looks very good to me; the right one is practically straight, but the left one is curved very characteristically. The preparation/chisel marks and even the cracks in the sediment look completely real. I'd say, don't worry - you've got yourself some trilobite antennae, which is something I've never found...

Thanks Joe. I suspected that the specimen was authentic as I had bought a few others from the same vendor and he seemed to be legitimate. As a safeguard, I rarely purchase expensive perfect specimens from Ebay. I reason that no-one will go through the trouble of faking a $45 fossil, complete with flaws.
The problem with FLICKER is that they will not allow a picture to be posted from their site unless the forum has a link to get people people back to FLICKER. Quid quo pro.

Pete,
I'm not sure. This one came from "china-trilobite" on ebay. I think his other name is sof-t-tissue. I've also bought from RareChinese.

Thanks Steve.
When it comes to Chengjiang specimens, I lean toward those which show soft tissue preservation rather than complete examples. They're not as showy to the untrained eye but they amaze me.
