In photomicroscopy... one of the biggest problems is lack of depth of field of view. Not every thing is in focus. Picture the microscope focusing down on on a mountain ... the tops of the peaks are clear the base of the mountain out of focus. As you focus down wards you can take a series of shots at each elevation interval.... now take digital software and stack the clear bit together an now you have Helicon Focus image stacking software... I my opinion... one of the best to generate clear images of fossils under a microscope. The software is revolutionary... if you submit material to Heliconsoft and they approve... you can get a free license for the software... like I did.
