Interesting! On the assumption that they're part of the plant, not something encrusting, could they be side-roots or branches?

Looks to be a fragment of where rootlets of Stigmaria are attached.

Looks like it but wrong age. Do you get any Stigmaria-like root systems in the Jurassic? As Lucy says, though, it does appear to be some of that ilk...

My next best guess would be where spines attach to the test of a spiny urchin. Those were around in the Jurassic.
Do I need to make another shot in the dark?
