Greetings one and all! We're just getting our feet on the ground, so please bear with us. The website that this forum accompanies will also hopefully be up and running in the next few weeks.
So what's it all about, then? Well, basically it's a celebration of the fossils of the Builth Inlier, a wonderful area of Powys (Mid Wales), and nearby places. Discussions about the Ordovician in general are also welcome, and indeed about Welsh fossils in general, from the Cambrian, Silurian, Devonian even... Of course, we have to draw the line somewhere, so here it is: We're really not all that interested in dinosaurs!
We're hoping to make this place a meeting point for everyone interested in these fossils, whether a casual visitor or a research scientist. It's a place for discussing everything from local finds and the basics of geological history to deep and meaning ideas about ecological transitions and evolutionary histories. It can be a place to get fossils identified, and to discuss interpretations. From a more artistic perspective, it can be a forum for simply appreciating the wonder of these long-dead creatures.
In short, it can be whatever it ends up being (within reason!), and we hope the site will develop according to the way it is used. We will probably have several boards in the end, if it turns out that there are natural subject divisions, and enough interest.
We want your ideas! Any thoughts, suggestions or otherwise, please register and let us know how you would like to see the forum develop. What are you interested in talking about? That'll do for now. Please also read the guidelines that are in a reply to this post, and make yourselves at home!
