Was suggested by Tod C. that it may be crotocephalus trilobite . Comments?

The latest email from the ROM "A partial trilobite thoracopygon for sure, but I won't venture an identification beyond that."

Definitely trilobite, indeed, and I suspect it's a new genus. It's something along the lines of Crotocephalus (but that's too late; I was thinking Remopleurides instead), but I can't see anything quite right. This is actually rather interesting, as a lot of these ones with the narrow pleurae are pelagic, and indicative of relatively deep water. That doesn't make sense for something endemic, of course, but it's worth bearing in mind, especially as the water depth of the Fezouata is still uncertain.

Yay - Remopleurides it (probably) is, then! ;D I don't think it matches any species I've seen pictures of, especially around the pygidium area, so it may well be new. I'd actually like to see the cephalon to be sure - there are some convergent taxa on this type of morphology, and it's possible it's seomthing different, in my opinion...

Hi Joe: Has been a busy weekend ... I try to image the cephalon later this week... the head may be missing? Scott at TFF contacted his experts also and came up with based on the pydium.. "Hello This pygidium it's Apatokephalus. Best wishes... "

Thanks for them - there's obviously not a huge amount of it left, but it does seem to fit!

How about an Aglaspid, perhaps Leptaglaspis schmidti, sans head.

Interesting conjecture John. Welcome to the forum. Are related to Lucy Muir here on this forum?
