The latest essay on the different communities of the Inlier is a great help and is really useful in trying to sort out what was happening where. This is going to be good to get clear before looking at the new displays in the Radnorshire Museum when it reopens. By the way, I hope lots of people are going to turn up for the June weekend so that there will be opportunities to share ideas in a suitably convivial environment. The whole website has been proving extremely useful for my adult education and introductory palaeontology classes that I've been running, especially the "Beginner's Guide to Fossilologizing" which makes a great hand out at the end of a session. Also the Faunal list which I use constantly both for identify ing specimens at home and also as a vade mecum in the field. One quibble though: I and a lot of others whom I've introduced to the site find the extreme offset of the text and illustrations distracting and irritating, also the awkwardness in printing off the material is a problem. I'm sure this is something which can be easily rectified by the appropriate tweaks from someone who knows how. So here's looking forward to losts more goodies but in the easy access format for those of us whose IT skills are minimal!

Dear Ormrod, Many thanks indeed for your comments! It's actually very good for morale to know how the various things are being used, especially the beginners' guide and the faunal list. It's also very good to have suggestions for improvement and criticisms, so thanks for being the first with a useful suggestion! We really do need to know when there are problems. Roy has just gone on a much-needed holiday for three weeks, but will be back in May and will be able to reply to you then - really, issues of layout and format are his department. The idea behind the offset is, I believe, largely about leaving space for notes for those using it in the way you describe. In the meantime, it seems that the page size issue (Lucy and I have come across this problem ourselves, but Roy's system works fine) is dependent on which browser/operating system you're using. To get around it, we can recommend (a) trying 'print preview' before printing, and looking for a button labelled 'shrink to page' or something similar; or (b) highlighting the whole thing with your mouse, pressing Control-C to copy, and then opening MS Word, and pressing Control-V to paste it into a document. Should work fine, then. Let us know how it works, and any other suggestions for the site in general! All the best, Joe et al.
