Just on the off chance someone has transportation to North Wales (Llyn Peninsula) and can use them... I have to get most of the boxes of rocks out of my house and am hesitant to return them to the beach to be lost to boulder clay and the sea.
These are glacial erratics. Most are Carboniferous limestone, predominantly death plates, with corals, brachiopods, and crinoid bits. There are probably other inclusions as well, since Joe & Lucy identified a fish bone in one chunk. How about internal casts of crinoid stem sections in various matrices? Or coal measures bits? A nice productus gigantus, perhaps? There may be buried treasures since I haven't broken a lot of the cobbles (or simply don't know enough to recognise things). I have found one pygidium and a piece of flint echinoid, so there's a range. You can see some of the material in the multi-page thread under Introductions (and see what an excellent teacher Joe is!).
I also have purchased belemnites & ammonites (Petersborough, I think) that need to be culled....
Any interest or suggestions?
Thanks,
Reighan

Alas that no-one seems to want them!
If you don't get any offers, might I suggest a local school? You'll probably find a lot of interest, especially if you can offer to go and talk to the children about them as well...

I'm not surprised but it was worth a try. :-) There's not much local interest either. Maybe FreeCycle....

Thanks, Peter. I'd thought of that but just can't cope with eBay listings or prepping/labeling to place in local gift shops (for tourists). Besides, I'd much prefer to donate them for educational purposes. :-)

What to do with your surplus is a big problem for fossil collectors in general... I have donated to a museum in the past but I hardly pick anything up these days that isnt quality and I'm still over run with thousands of nodules...
