Thanks very much Steve.... your observations hold true... placoderm remains and shark teeth .... this one however was definately random chance..... this piece belongs to a rock strata high up ... it fell into a clay pit filled with water... it remained there till the owners of the quarry pumped the water out leaving the plate exposed and ready to be picked up... the plate is as found.... I consider myself to be very fortunate : )

We all need a bit of luck... Some of my best pieces come from chance rockfalls, right place right time... anyone would of spotted them ;o)

Actually this has been a great yr... found these are all first finds... rare placoderm armor, ancient shark teeth, devonian wood, devonian phyllocarid, blastoids.... and I have been exploring this area for only 2 yrs : )
