I have been experimenting with Lytro LightField Technology for a number of months now.... The Technology was developed at Stanford. I studied the Harvard LightField Microscope design and had a Eureka moment yesterday as I understood the concepts in the Harvard prototype and solved an optics problem and on On Dec 29, 2012, I constructed a Plenoptic Microscope for myself and it works : http://i740.photobuc...zpsfca92aba.jpg The system is capable of resolving smaller than 10 micron resolution: Here is a test calibration slide... each division is = 10 microns pictures.lytro.com/pleecan/pictures/499869An example of the images that it can record is as follows. pictures.lytro.com/pleecan/pictures/501749I have a new toy to play with. Blimey Peter.... Your doing some pioneering work...I bet you need to re study all your specimens now with the new technology... What could you have missed first time round!

Thanks Steve ... Also I have been showing the people at Lytro glitches in their imaging software.... they told me that they are not interested in the scientific application for this camera and were only concerned with the consumer market... Pitty... guess I will go it alone without Lytro...... this is pioneering work... I have developed 3 designs for Plenoptic Microscope i) PL-Zeiss-Lytro Plenoptic Microscope Construct capable of transmission light Dark Field and Bright Field Microscope ii) PL-Beck-Lytro Plenoptic Metallurgical Microscope Construct capable of looking solid opaque objects in reflective light iii) PL-Macro -Lytro Construct to look at Fossils done all of this last couple of days PL

That is astonishing, Peter. I wouldn't know where to start in making one of these, honestly. Seriously impressed, and when I get a bit of time I'm going to start reading up on what on earth a plenoptic microscope actually is... ;-)
