Hi all, You may have noticed that there used to be some adverts on this forum. You may also have noticed that some of them were for fossils for sale, and we've decided that it's worth coughing up the price ($7 a month) to keep them away. They're really not what we wanted to be promoting... and half the rest were for holiday cottages in Texas, or somewhere.
Anyway, the forum software allows the ad-free state to be maintained by donations from any member (see the link at the bottom of the page). While we're happy to keep up the payments, should anyone feel that way inclined themselves, we're not going to complain. It's quite a nice touch, actually. The fee only covers the first 500,000 page views per month, though, so we may have to slow down a bit! ;-)
Cheers, Joe

Hi Joe,
Hmm - it seems Proboards don't accept any credit/debit card payments other than from American accounts - very odd.
Pay-Pal seems the best alternative option and I'll try that later. If the worst comes to the worst though I can always send a few bucks left over from my holiday funds in the post! - one way or the other we'll banish those pesky adverts!.
Roy.

Hello everyone,
I have mailed in six months ad-free credit today and Proboards.com say that it will take up to three weeks for the payment to arrive/credit the account.
So make a note in your 'Old as the Hills' calendar that the ads should be gone by June 6.
cheerio,
Roy.

Aha.... at last after several heartfelt pleas to the Proboards support forum we have at last today been credited with our ad-free credit payments!!. We have enough credits for six months ad-free so In the light of how long it has taken to receive the credits so far we had better send off the payment for the following six months in the next few weeks.... R.

Well done, Roy - it seems to have taken far too much effort, but it's worth it. Any idea why it took so long for them to get organised?
(Apologies for our silence recently - we've been moving house)
Joe
