Hi everyone,
Whether you have a traditional film camera or a super dooper digital camera, you will be able to post images here on the forum and If you would allow us to put them into one of the galleries on the OATH website - we can do that too.
We are also intending to set up a system where you can mail in some images to us for scanning if you don't have access to a scanner or image editing software.
We''ll post the address when it's set up and put together some basic guidelines. Hopefully, we can offer this as a free service (if we are not inundated) although we would have to ask for postage to be paid.
This facility will be useful for indentifying your specimens (a sort of 'Fossils Roadshow') or just sharing your best finds - and of course ultimately adding to the general information database.
Let us know if you have any questions - however tricky. We have a team of professional photographers on hand to try and help, and of course we are always hoping to learn something ourselves!.
cheerio,
Roy.

Hello all, I have reposted this message here (from the 'introductions' thread) to put it into context with the photography thread: I will be posting some links to various interesting facilities for managing digital images soon but in the meantime, if anyone would like to post an image on the forum (or at least a hyperlink to one) here's how to do it: 1. Select one of the many free image hosting sites out there - I recommend: www.photobucket.com/ the advertising is relatively inobtrusive and the site seems to be very stable. 2. Register with the site (choose a password etc), and name your photo album. 3. Upload your JPEGs to the album (different sites have more or less acceptable variations of filetypes and file sizes). 4. When your JPEGS are uploaded, copy the URL for that image (often displayed beneath the image itself or if not - just open the image in a new window and copy the URL from the address bar). 5. Nip back over here to the forum and post the copied URL into your message - and hey presto! everyone can see your pic..... here is one I made earlier (as the saying goes): img.photobucket.com/albums/v331/Leroi/OATHPoster.jpgor alternatively you can post a fairly small image (in file size) via a URL directly into your message by clicking the picture icon (4th one along in the row above the smilies) - a tag is automatically inserted, and then you paste your URL replacing the letters: URL in the tag thus: We look forward to seeing some great pictures - it's amazing what you can do with a digital camera these days!. Roy.

Hybrid fusion of digital camera bodies with old bellows technology, M42 lens are superior to today's lens with plastic housing are my favourite media of choice.
